Mission Adventures provides youth with the opportunity to put their faith in to action by spending two weeks of their summer deepening their relationship with God and experiencing cross-cultural missions! Youth can come on their own or youth leaders can bring their whole youth group! We take care of all the administration and have a YWAM missionary accompany you to take care of the logistics, enabling youth leaders to simply focus on sharing the experience with their young people. Individual applicants will form an outreach group of their own and will participate in the same training and debrief camps as the youth groups.

Training

The Mission Adventures programme begins with a 4-day training camp at one of Youth With A Mission’s UK campuses in Harpenden. The camp is designed to provide you and your youth group with intentional team-building exercises, to help you build unity and strengthen your relationships with one another. You will participate in a variety of activities together, including prayer and worship, teaching about the local culture of the nation you will visit, workshops on related ministry skills (such as storytelling or running children’s games, etc), biblical studies of missions and evangelism, and much much more! There will also be some surprise challenges which will require you and your group to work together and practice good communication and cooperation skills. All the youth groups will participate in the same training camp, so it is also a great opportunity for you to connect with other missional minded youth and youth leaders from across the country!

Outreach

Accompanied by Mission Adventures staff, you and your group will embark on a 10-day cross-cultural missions trip. The outreach will consist of three elements: evangelism; some form of mercy ministry such as food distribution, working with the homeless, or visiting the sick; and serving in a practical way, such as teaching English or running a summer camp. The schedule during the trip will include a balance of ministry time, team time, and free time where you can relax or take in some local sights and culture.

Reflection

Upon returning from the trip, Mission Adventures staff will guide your group through a 2-day debriefing, where you will have the chance to reflect and discuss, both personally and collectively, what they have experienced and what God has taught you during the program. There will also be some teaching during the debrief, such as practical tips on giving a presentation about the trip to your home church, and different ways you can take what you’ve learned and apply it within your local community. On the last day, we will celebrate together and thank God for all that He did in and through all the groups during this time!

Many countries have been greatly impacted by the mass refugee migration, and Greece in particular has been one of the nations at the front-lines of the crisis. While the situation continues to unfold, there is tremendous need for aid volunteers. We now have another opportunity to serve, this time in Athens! This team will work in several community centres providing much needed food, clothes, and English classes to refugees, addicts, and homeless individuals. They will also join local believers to do street evangelism.
